Jeremy’s 11-piece tribute to the music of Ray Charles was launched at Manchester Jazz Festival in 2009. 700 people attended..in the rain! The expanded 17-piece big band was launched in November 2011.. again to a sell out crowd.

Since then, the show has headlined 6 shows at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, fronted a Ray Charles 85th Birthday celebration at The Jazz Cafe, Camden, received a memorable standing ovation at a full Cadogan Hall in Chelsea, and  performed at Bluesfest 2015 at the O2.

The spectacular arrangements were done by Iain Dixon (BBC Big Band, Michael Brecker, Joni Mitchell, Bryan Ferry) who MD’s. The Ray Charles Project also features renowned guitarist Mike Walker.

The music is based around Ray Charles’ work with his big band and has the perfect blend of well-known hits and rarer songs that only the hardened Ray Charles fan would recognise. The playlist is featured on the accompanying video.

“Such an atmosphere made the sold-out crowd applaud wildly for each tune and soak up the infectious feel-good vibe.”

“In the keyboard and vocal department, Jeremy excelled. He found the spirit of Ray Charles without mere imitation or pastiche… He is a man who loves and understands this music”

The Playlist

One mint julep
Oh what a beautiful morning
Hardhearted hannah
Them that got
Hallelujah i love her so
You don’t know me
How long has this been goin on
I gotta woman
Hit the road Jack
What i’d say
Feel so bad
Let the good times roll
The jealous kind
This little girl of mine

Don’t let the sun catch you cryin
Unchain my heart
Georgia on my mind
Shake a tailfeather
In the heat of the night
Drown in my own tears
Don’t set me free
Look what they done to my song
Crying time
Bye bye love
Let’s go get stoned
You are my sunshine
Sticks and stones
Hide nor hair
